Abstract: | The prime purpose of the study was to assess the perceived effects of Google classroom as a determinant of attitude, engagement and satisfaction among distance education students of the University of Cape Coast. The descriptive survey design was used for this study. The study utilised simple random sampling to select 360 respondents for the study. The instrument used to collect data was questionnaire, and the data collected were analysed using mean, standard deviation, mean of means and linear regression. The results of the study revealed that students viewed Google Classroom as an effective platform for teaching and learning. Additionally, the study revealed that students have positive attitude towards Google Classroom instruction. Also, students of the College of Distance Education, University of Cape Coast were satisfied and engaged with the use of Google Classroom for instructional purposes. The result from the hypotheses also showed that there was a statistically significant relationship between the effectiveness of Google Classroom and students’ attitude, satisfaction and engagement. The study, therefore, recommended that Management of the University of Cape Coast should adopt Google Classroom for Distance Education. It was recommended that effectiveness of Google Classroom instruction should be considered when focusing on learner engagement, positive attitudes and satisfaction. |
