The main objective of this thesis is to determine how to integrate Internet, as a tool for teaching/learning, into the programme of study of French at the Department of French of the University of Cape Coast. From the study, it was realized that both students and lecturers of the Department had an appreciable level of skills in the use of computer and internet. It was also realized that students and lecturers alike use the common services of the internet, like e-mail, chat, search engines, but rarely include the internet in their teaching/learning techniques in French. Some of the factors discovered to be hampering the use of Internet to promote teaching/learning of French are unavailability of computers, unreliable nature of the Internet services, lack of teaching/learning strategies in usmg Internet to enhance performance of lecturers and students. It is worth noting that students (88.4%) and lecturers (85.7%) welcome the idea of integrating Internet in the teaching/learning of French. Both students and lecturers express high levels of expectancy about integrating the Internet in the teaching/learning of Oral and Written aspects of French. For the majority of student respondents, integrating Internet in the teaching/learning of French would create a perfect atmosphere for diverse forms of interactions inside or outside lecture theatres. Also, it will afford students the opportunity for more reading, listening and acquisition of more vocabulary in French. On the other hal}d, lecturers wish to see a considerable improvement in students' communicative skills in French and want teaching/learning to be student-centered.en_US
