dc.description.abstractThe study investigated the role of performance appraisal on employee delivery in Ghana education service in the Bolgatanga Municipality. Specifically, four research objectives were investigated. These are: to determine employee perception of performance appraisal at Ghana Education Service in the Bolgatanga Municipality; to examine methods of conducting performance appraisal at Ghana Education Service in the Bolgatanga Municipality; to ascertain the effects of performance appraisal on employee performance at Ghana Education Service in the Bolgatanga Municipality; and finally to assess the challenges associated with performance appraisal. The study relied on the quantitative approach and explanatory research design. A structured questionnaire was used to gather data from a sample of 196 drawn from a sample frame of 300. The data was then processed using the (IBM SPSS version 26). Both descriptive (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (simple regression were used to address issues in the study. The study found that employees had varied perceptions of what performance appraisal constitutes. The study also found a statistically significant effect of performance appraisal on employees' performance at Ghana education service (GES) in the Bolgatanga Municipality. The also disclosed other challenges that entangle the conduct of performance appraisal. The study recommends that management of Ghana Education Service (GES) should occasionally hold dialogues with the employees to discuss issues of prominence such as the setting of performance standards and measuring performance so that collaboratively, the employees will feel involved in the performance appraisal process.en_US
