Abstract: Cassia occidentalis is widely distributed and very commonly used plant. Itcontained many chemical groups included alkaloids, anthocyanosides, phenolics, proteins, phlobatannins, steroids, tannins, flavonoids, anthroquinone, saponins, terpenes, resins, balsams, amino acids, carbohydrates, sugars and cardiac glycosides. Cassia occidentalis exerted many pharmacological effects included antimicrobial, anthelmintic, insecticidal, antioxidant, antianxiety, antidepressant, antimutogenic antidiabetic, wound healing, hepatoprotective, renoprotective, sun protective, smooth muscles relaxation, immune-modulating, antiinflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and other effects. The present review will highlight the chemical constituents and the pharmacological and therapeutic effects of Cassia occidentalis.
