<title>Nugbidodo (Reconciliation) Rite And Its Efficacy Among The Anlo People Of Ghana</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/11711</link>
<description>Nugbidodo (Reconciliation) Rite And Its Efficacy Among The Anlo People Of Ghana
Atsakpo, Dzidzor Etsey
This thesis sought to examine the connection between traditional religio-cultural&#13;
beliefs, customs and practices, and conflict resolution and reconciliation using&#13;
conflict issues in Anlo traditional area to analyse its efficacy. The basic aim is to&#13;
assess the methods and the extent of conflict in Anlo and to, explore the relevance of&#13;
combining indigenous and modern methods to address contemporary conflict in Anlo&#13;
traditional area. The methodology is sited within the framework for conducting&#13;
empirical studies in Religious Studies. The qualitative method of collecting and&#13;
analysing data are utilized, coupled with a historical foundation of conflict situation&#13;
on a global scale. The Anlo, as guided by their religious perception, demonstrate a&#13;
key pattern in their indigenous customs and practices. Nugbidodo rite currently&#13;
impact knowledge in the wake of moderruty and the influence of Westernization. It&#13;
is argued strongly that the Anlo indigenous ways of addressing conflict issues are still&#13;
relevant, and the methods adopted for doing so, have not been lost completely in the&#13;
communities. Even though it appears that indigenous religious beliefs. customs and&#13;
practices seem to be disappearing due to the influence of westernization and&#13;
conversion to Islam and Christianity, my key argument is that indigenous religious&#13;
beliefs, customs, and practices remain very strong and active in their ways oflife and&#13;
in their thought patterns. Further, I raised an argument that it is not enough to adopt&#13;
modern (scientific) or traditional methods of addressing contemporary issues of&#13;
conflict separately, and so the indigenous and the western approaches could live side&#13;
by side in order to fully address conflict issues. Finally, my argument is also that,&#13;
certain challenges needed to be addressed before the two approaches can co-exist.

<title>Pastors in Ghanaian Pentecostal Churches And The Text Of 1 Timothy 3:1-7: A Critical Study</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/11639</link>
<description>Pastors in Ghanaian Pentecostal Churches And The Text Of 1 Timothy 3:1-7: A Critical Study
Botchway, Samuel
The growing concern of the media and the public regarding the attitude and&#13;
lifestyle of some Pastors in Ghanaian Pentecostal churches created the need to&#13;
re-examine what 1 Timothy 3:1-7 teaches concerning Pastors. The scriptures&#13;
serve as the main source of character and practice for Pastors in Ghanaian&#13;
Pentecostal churches and they use 1 Timothy 3:1-7 as a reference point for their&#13;
Pastors especially in terms of their character. Previous studies focus on the&#13;
history of the Pentecostal churches and the duties of the Pastors in the local&#13;
church. This study traces how one becomes a Pastor and how one serves as a&#13;
Pastor in a Pentecostal church in Ghana. Interview was mainly used for the data&#13;
collection and rhetorical method was used for the interpretation of the text. The&#13;
study concluded that theological education plays an important role in the&#13;
development of Pastors, just as other professions require education for&#13;
effectiveness, the pastoral ministry need not take theological education for&#13;
granted. Also, there is open-ended entrance into the pastoral ministry. Some&#13;
denominations have put strict measures in place to ensure their Pastors meet&#13;
these standards. However, there are no checks of people who want to become a&#13;
minister in Ghana at large. It is therefore important to get institution that&#13;
determines who qualifies to be a pastor in Ghana.

<title>Parenting And The Moral Development Of Adolescents In Ghana</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/11470</link>
<description>Parenting And The Moral Development Of Adolescents In Ghana
Quacoe-Takrama, Rev. Philip
With so much interest in adolescence studies, many theoretical viewpoints have&#13;
been advanced. this work analyses and integrates these different theoretical&#13;
positions for a better understanding of adolescents. the problem under&#13;
investigation is to ascertain how some social and cultural interventions like&#13;
puberty rites and communality in Ghana can help the adolescents to navigate&#13;
adolescence. on methodology, semi-structured interviews was used, the case study&#13;
technique was used with the focus group approach to the study. the purposive&#13;
sampling technique was employed. adolescents seems to be cushioned against&#13;
pressure in Ghana and Africa due to their cultural and social interventions. the&#13;
findings shows, today's adolescents needs one thing that grownups seem to have&#13;
the least surplus of, time, nevertheless, parents' understanding, time and effective&#13;
communication among others will go a long way in influencing the adolescents&#13;
sail through adolescence with ease. furthermore, parents should gage the&#13;
emotional state of the adolescents at any time in their relationship and&#13;
communication with them. it recommended, parents should listen to teenagers&#13;
nonjudgementally, as well as modeling decision-making strategies for adolescents&#13;
to emulate. besides teenagers often go off tangents, seems to argue side issues for&#13;
no apparent reason; this can be highly frustrating to many adults, they do not&#13;
mean any harm contrary to popular opinion and parents must not be worry as they&#13;
are only exercising their novel reasoning capabilities. the conclusion reached is&#13;
that, Africa and for that matter Ghana would be better of revisiting some of her&#13;
cultural and social interventions like puberty rites and communality and bring to&#13;
bear the moral lessons enshrined in them on her adolescents in order to cushion&#13;
them against the stormy nature of the adolescent transition and globalization.

<title>(Elohim Attem) in Psalm 82:6 of the Masoretic text and the translation of Moy! Anyame in the Asante Twi Bible.</title>

<description>(Elohim Attem) in Psalm 82:6 of the Masoretic text and the translation of Moy! Anyame in the Asante Twi Bible.
Owusu-Ansah, Roland
This thesis analyses אֱלֹהִים אַ תם (ELOHIM ATTEM) IN PSALM 82:6 OF&#13;
THE MASORETIC TEXT AND THE TRANSLATION OF MOY!&#13;
ANYAME IN THE ASANTE TWI BIBLE.&#13;
Misinterpretation of biblical texts can lead to incorrect applications and&#13;
misconceptions. This study examines Psalm 82 of the Masoretic text and Asante&#13;
Twi translations using form-critical methods and decolonization-critical&#13;
approaches, emphasizing the importance of considering source and receptor&#13;
languages and language groups' worldviews in Bible translation.&#13;
The study highlighted the following findings: Decolonization theory, or&#13;
the postcolonial critical hermeneutic, as a corrective, dialogic, and liberating&#13;
hermeneutic to analyse translations and revisions of the Bible that have emerged&#13;
from a colonial past where bias and misunderstanding of the culture and&#13;
language have compromised the translation work that was done; the relevance&#13;
dynamic of translation; theology of that translation; reflection on translation as&#13;
contextualization, incarnation, and appropriation of the Biblical message in the&#13;
‘culture’ of a specific ethnic group; the term anyame coined to define the&#13;
religion of the Akan people as polytheism, which includes the Asante; and the&#13;
missiological significance of this rendering and its implications. The thesis&#13;
recommends that the Asante Twi Bible needs a re-reading of Psalm 82 to&#13;
provide an appropriate rendering of Elohim for Asante Twi readers.
